NEW SOUTH WALES TEAM POR NEW ZEALAND. One innovation in the programme of the New South Wales Rugby League team to cross the Tasman Sea shortly, fays the "Sydney Referee," is that three exhibition matches are to be played. In these the best Thirteen Will meet Combined teams, including members of the touring, party standing out of first team. The New South Wales Rugby League team to shortly .leave for New Zealand, continues the writer, is expected to be thoroughly representative of the strength of the League. They are to play eight matches across the Tasman. 1 An innovation provides for three exhibition matches in different centres. In these the best thirteen of the Kangaroos will meet a combined team embracing New Zealanders, end members of the Australian' team not chosen in the first thirteen. With teams of this sort playing seriously there should be some spirited expositions of the League game for New Zealand crowds. It is an indiction that the Rugby League authorities are determined to fight with all their weapons the Rugby Union in New Zealand. The job is • a big one, for if tie League has the game and the greater players, the Union has the grounds and the sentiment of New Zealanders in sport supnorting them. The Rugby League appointed MessrsH. Flegg, and L. Schofield as managers. ' MEETING OF CENTRE. The weekly meeting of the manageUent committee of the Wellington Rugby League was held in '.he Trades Hall, Vivian street, last evening, when Mr 8. J. Keegan presided over the following delegates:—Messrs C. Snow, Martin, Henderson, Duncan. Goodall, Burke, Ponder, and C. Hr White (secretary). A letter was received from Mr J. S. Dickson, M.P., stating that he would be pleased to take part in any welcome by the League to the from Australia. who arrive in Wellington on September 13th. The secretary was instructed to thank Mr Dickson for his let-' ter. A delegation from the Petone Club was received. The delegates brought up. matters in reference to fixtures and training of representative players, end considerable argument took place In reference to same. It was decided that the special meeting of the management committee in rearranging the fixtures be endorsed. Correspondence from South Auckland in reference to the match at Palmerston North to-morrow was dealt with, and satisfactory arrangements made. Mr Keejan reported upon the deputation which waited upon the City Council last Thursday evening In reference to grounds for the playing of the games with the Australian representatives.
