CUBA STREET DEMONSTRATION - WEEK. NEW LIGHTING INSTALLATION. To-morrow evening at 7.30 or’clock a switoh will be pulled over in the control room of the Electric Lighting Department. Simultaneously a long double stnng of brilliant electrics under the verandahs of every shop in Cuba street between the boundaries of Dixon and Vivian streets will leap to life. The Cuba street . demonstration week will have commenced. For months the negotiations necessary to render this fine lighting of the street possible have been pursued, and the work quietly and systematically done. From to-morrow Cuba street will be one of the best lighted, streets in 'the ' Southern 'Hemisphere. ' The whole thoroughfare will he. as bright as day, and it is to the loyalty of the shopkeepers that their faith in,Cuba street, as the “heart of Wellington’’ has rendered this municipal achievement .posable. Bat not only will to-morrow mark an epoch in the history of Cuba street, it will he the chance of a lifetime to shoppers. A streetful of bargains, that * what to-morrow will see. Every shop within the lighted area will he lit up internally, and give its contribution to the “great white way.’’ At / every shop special and attractive bargains will he offered daily for the period of one week. Such a happening is unique in the history of the retail trade of the Dominion. From one end to the other of the biggest retail street of the city great bargains will be there to be had.. Every possible need of the (household will be covered by the .divers, ity of shops and houses. The Garrison Band will be in attendance, and the evening will rank os an event in bangam history.
