NEW TRAMWAY ROUTE

,RAROA ROAD ASSOCIATION. A large meeting of ratepayers of the Raroa Road Tramway Advancement Association was held at Kelburn, when a strong protest was made against the action of the pity Council in not carrying out the wishes of ~EHe ratepayers of Wellington in respect to the Raroa road tramway route. Mr Gooder oocupied the chair. Councillor Bum and Messrs Butler, B&rcham, .and Kelly addressed the meeting, when stirring speeches were made, and the following resolution was unanimously carried:—

“That this meeting of ratepayers and residents of Wellington apd supporters of the Raroa Road Tramway Advancement Association do hereby retolve to urge the Wellington CSty Counoil to proceed with the construction of the Raroa road tramway in furtherance of the. wish of the ratepayers as expressed in a poll taken in September, 1920, it being considered that the Raroa tram route would be in the best interest of the residents of the districts concerned and the city as a whole/’ ‘ It was decided that a deputation wait mpon the council and present a petition signed by a large number of ratepayers. The deputation will be introduced by Councillor Peter Fraser, M.P.
