STEADY DEMAND FOR. BEEF. At the weekly Westfield fat stock market beef to the number of 518 bead were penned, comprising 390 steers, 121 cows and heifers, and 7 bulls. The quality generally was first-class. There was a steady demand throughout. Heavy cattle were unchanged, but medium weight cows and steers were slightly firmer. Extra choice ox sold to .£1 4s, choice and prime £1 Is to £1 3s, ordinary and plain 17s 6d to £l, prime young cow and heifer beef 17s to HI, ordinary cow beef. 14s. to 16s 6d, rough beef 10s to 145., Extra heavy prime steers ranged in ’ price from £lO 10s to £ll 10s, heavy prime £8 15s to £lO ss, lighter prime £7 to £8 10s. light £5 10s to £6 15s, small and unfinished £3 to .£5, extra heavy prime young cows and heifers £6 10s to £7 17s 6d, heavy prime young cows and heifers £s' 5s to £6 ss, lighter £4 -to £5, light £3 to £3 15s, others £1 10s to £2 15s.
