DECLINE IN MARRIAGES. The vital statistics for the month of August are as followßirths, 183 (205); deaths, 108 (104); marriage notices, 80 (110); marriages in office, 27 (33). Totals for the eight months ending August 31st:—Births, 1564 (1545); deaths, 684 (687); marriage notices, 805 (282); marriages in office, 203 (231),. The figures in parentheses are for the corresponding Serfod of 1021. Possibly the financial epression and unemployment have had something to do wtih the decreasing number of marriages.
