Chatham*—Otarama, Australia. DIOGENES MAIDEN VOYAGE. Cable advice has been, received by Messrs Dalgety and. Co., Ltd., to the effect that the Diogenes, the second of the two new steamers of the Aberdeen Line, and 6ister ship of the Sophocles, has sailed from England on her maiden voyage to Australia. The Diogenes is a turbine vessel of 12,500 tons, with accommodation for 130 first-class and 400 third-class passengers. She is due to arrive at Sydney on September 29th, and will ho despatched Homewards about October 21st. This vessel, as well as the Sophocles, has been turned out at the famous ship* building yards of Messrs Harland and Woolff, and will prove a decided acquisition to the ©ld-establshed Aberdeen LineTHE GALLIC. The liner Gallic, which arrived at Wellington yesterday morning, sails from here on Saturday, September 2nd, for London via Monte Video and Teneriffe. BLOEMFONTEIN ARRIVES. The liner Bloemfontein, which arrived in port yesterday from New York via Auckland and Napier, sails on Saturday fcfternoon for tHyttelton. Timaru and Australia, to complete discharge of her cargo. TREMERE AT AUCKLAND. The liner Tremere, from New York, has radioed the local Federal Agency that she expects to arrive at Auckland this morning. The vessel vpll arrive in Wellington about Thursday next. WESTMORELAND DDE SHORTLY. The Federal Agency advise that the liner Westmoreland, which left Napier on Tuesday last, arrived at Gisborne yesterday morning, and is expected to complete her Gishorne loading and sail for Wellington on Saturday next. The vessel is due on Monday next, and should sail on September 6th for London and West Coast ports via Monto Video. WHAKATANE GONE. The liner Whakatane sailed at noon yesterday for Lyttelton, .Dunedin and Nelson, to complete discharge of her United Kingdom cargo PALOONA SAILING. The intercolonial passenger steamer Paloona is to leave Melbourne at noon to-dav for Wellington, and is due on Monday afternoon. The vessel sails on Tuesday for southern ports, whence she proceeds on her return voyage to Australia.

WAIHORA COMING. The Union Company advise that the steamer Waihora left Singapore on Tuesday afternoon for Saxnarang to complete loading for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. PORT CAMPBELL FOR AUSTRALIA. The C. and D, Liner Port Campbell arrived at Dunedin at 9.30 a.m. yesterday. She is to sail at daybreak this morning for Australia to complete discharge. THE WANGARATTA. The New Zealand Shipping Company advise that the steamer Wangaratta is to sail at daybreak to-day for London via Monte Video and Lae Palmas. TRANS-PACIFIC STEAMERS. The Kaiwarra, from Sydney, arrived at Suva yesterday, and leaves finally for Auckland on September Bth. The Navua left Apia at midnight on Monday for Friendly Island ports. The Flora, from Rarotonga, is due at Auckland on Monday next. ' The Wairuna, from Vaaucouveir, arrived at San Francieoo on Saturday, August 26th. She leaves to-day for Auckland direct. ERROLL COMING. The New Zealand Shipping Company advise that the steamer Erroll sailed from Montreal on Monday, July 25th, for New Zealand. The Erroll left Newport News on August 10th, and is due ait Auckland on September 18th. She should ajrrive at Wellington from the northern port on September 25tli, sailing again on the 29th for Lyttelton and Dunedin clearing from the latter port on October sth and proceeding to Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. ATHBNIC'S MOVEMENTS. The Shaw, Savill and Albion Com, pany's liner Athenic, which left Lyttelton at 4.15 p.m. .yesterday for discharge and loading at Port Chalmers, proceeds on for loading to Timaru and Wellington, and is due at this port on September 12th, sailing finally on September 17th for Southampton end London. Tho vessel will proceed Home via Monte Video and Teneriffe. PORT NAPIER AT AUCKLAND., The C. mid D. Line steamer Port Napier arrived at Auckland at 4 p.m. on Tuesday from London, and has made the passage in thirty-eight days, tho best lim© for tho lino for a fair period. She has almost equalled tho fine performance of tho Port Pirio, which mad© the clinking run of thirty-six end a half days some time n;u-.k. Tho Port: Napier loaves Auckland for Wellington on Wednesday next, arriving <*n Friday.
