FURTHER TOURNAMENT RESULTS. HAWKE’S BAY GIRLS IN FORM. , PIB PBI6S ASSOCIATION. NAPIER, August 30. The matches in the New Zealand 1 ladies’ hockey tournament to-day resulted : A Section.—Eastern Southland (2) beat > Feilding (0). B Section.—Hawke’s Bay B .(3) beat Wairarapa (0); Hawke’s Bay A (5) beat Manawatn (1). 1 Eastern Southland’s showing against Feilding ws not np to the form shown previously in the tournament. The Feilding team is not a strong one, and had the winders been ‘extended they would probably have ehown better form. There was very little life in the opening stages, but play , was more interesting as the game progressed. Misses Heaps and Clark scored for Eastern Southland. The Hawke’s Bay A team ran up a good total against Manawatu, bat matters were by no means all in their favour. Tbe visiting forwards kept the Bay backs busy, but tbe latter were generally equal to the task. Manawatn ladked ability to apply the finishing touches in the circle. The local forwards combined fairly well and netted three goals in the first spell and two more were added in the second half, the play in which was fairly even. Towards the close Manawatu put in some creditable work and scored a good goal. Misses
Ward (2), Basmussen (2} and Lean scared for the winners. Hawke’s Bar B scored two coala In the first epell against Wairarapa. Misses flag and Foreman netting. Play was vary even in the second half until towarda the close, when the home team Mrain penetrated the defence, and Alia* Bisk scored.
