RESULT OF PLEBISCITE. PROHIBITION 3ET-BICK. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. COPENHAGEN, August 28. The provisional figures of the Swedish prohibition plebiscite are: —For prohibition, 772,747; against, 846 ; 536. The latest returns seem to indicate that the prohibitionists have lost the day. Among the principal centres, Stockholm polled—for prohibition 21,906, against 138,300; Gothenburg, for 19,603, against 51,487. THE LATEST FIGURES. (Received August 29, 5.5 p.m.) STOCKHOLM, August 28. The latest returns are: For prohibition 859,800 Against 953,000 The polling is far larger than at any general election. TEMPERANCE LECTUREB NOT PERMITTED IN NEW SOUTH WALES SCHOOLS. The New South Wales Minister for Education has refused the request of the New South Wales Alliance to permit temperance lecturers to address school children, on the grounds that he must administer the Education Department as a public office.
