THE STOCK EXCHANCE MARKET FAIRLY BRISK. WAR LOAN STOCK IK GOOD DEMAND. Yesterday’s calls on ’Change showed the market to be fairly brisk. Inscribed Stock (1938) and (1939) showed an increase of ss. and there was ail increase of 2s 6d in War Bonds (1933), (1938), end (1939), and P.O. Bonds and P.O. Inscribed Stock (1927). Sellers were willing to take J5e for Inscribed Stock (1933) and a siiftilar amount for War Bonds (193;)). P.O. Inscribed Stock was obtainable at ,£95 15s. Banks were in steady demand, Australasians bainv at Ll 3 3s, Nationals at L 5 18s 9d, New Zealands 15s, and Unions at .£l3 Is. Nationals ■were held for L 5 19s 9d. Potatoes for the past few days have evolved an inquiry from the North Island but it is confined almost exclusively to "whites/* which are worth fully 5s to 7s 6d per ton more than '‘Russets." A good deal of the inquiry is from the middle part of the island, and the Katoa. leaving on Thursday, is understood to bo takivur the equivalent of a week's supply. Farmers, so far, are offering very little, and quotations are about *B4 10s per ton at country stations. Cocksfoot is very depressed in the face of Danish the equivalent of which, at country stations, is about 44<l per lb. There is a good deal of retail business in ryegrass, ]jjit the yholesaroe market !s very quiet Cow grass is meeting with little business, and fowl feed is moving to a very moderate extent at about Ss lOd to 4« per bushel f.o.b.
