MAGISTRATE’S COURT

YESTERDAY’S SITTING. POLICE AND SUMMONS CASES. Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M., presided at yesterday’s sitting of the Magistrate’s Court, when police and summons oases were heard. James Harold Corson, charged with being helplessly drunk and with committing a breach of his prohibition order, was on the former charge fined £1 and ordered to pay costs amounting to £1 7s 6d, and on the other count was fined £1 and costs. Joseph Terence Maher, who had previously appeared on a charge of obtaining a sum of £lO from John Parry ay means of false pretences and also with assuming the designation of a police officer, was further remanded until Wednesday, the 23rd inst. On a charge of attempting to forge the name of R. Spittal to a cheque for £8 15s in. favour of J. Campbell, Jack David Mason was, on the application of Chief-Detective Kemp, remanded to appear at Blenheim on the 19th inst., bail being allowed in one security of £IOO. Ernest Pearson, charged with trespassing on the racecourse, was fined £5 and costs, in default one month’s imprisonment. Thomas Balmer, charged that (1) during the currency of his prohibition order, he had entered an hotel, and (2) had procured liquor, was on the first charge fined £1 and on the other count I<h.. For selling milk, containing a foreign substance, Sarah Archibald was fined 40s and costs. R. Ginsberg, who had employed a female after hours, was fined 10s and costs.
