MISSIONER TO CHINESE
HIS WORK COMMENDED. The Diocesan Sydnod yesterday passcd a resolution extending a very cordial welcome to the Rev. Edward Y. P, Deo (the missioncr to the Chinese), and cured him and his assistants of its in. terest in and sympathy with their work. The Yen. Archdeacon Johnson commended the work being performed by Mr Lee amongst the Chinese in Wellington. Archdeacon Watson, superintendent of the mission, mentioned that Mr Lee was the first missionor from China to occupy a seat- in the Synod. He pointed to the importance of the mission, and epoke of the excellence of Mr Lee’s work. He was proud to hare Mr Lee ns a member of the staff of lus church; the parishioners felt honoured by his occupancy of that position. Mr Lee expressed gratitude for the kind words spoken, and said he was glad to be a member of the Synod.
