IMPORTANT REMITS. VOTE-SPLITTING PROBLEM. PFB PRESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, July 5. The sixth annual conference of the New Zealand Party opened today. There were delegates from all part of the Dominion, over whom Mr L'\ Cooke (Christchurch) presided. The day was spent in discussing the executive’s report qnd dealing until the party’s activities during the year. The most important remits to bo discussed urge that the party should make some agreement with the Liberal Party for the purpose of avoiding votesplitting at forthcoming elections. There are two remits on the subject—ono from the Wellington railway workers and the other from the Wanganui railway servants. CONGRATULATIONS TO IRISH LABOUR. The report showed that the membership of the Labour Party was upwards of 25,000 and showed a considerable increase, despite trade depression and unemployment. Some of tho larger organisations, it was stated, were not yet affiliated, but they were working in close c«-opention and harmony w’th the party. A resolution was carried congratulating the Irish Labour Pa ry on their great success at the elections for the Irish Free State.
