A well-attended meeting, representative of the whole Cambridge district, was held at Cambridge to discuss the advisability of holding a race meeting at an early date. The convener of the meeting, Mr Gerald L. Stead, was elected chairman. He stated the purpose for which the meeting* had been called; either tho formation of a racing club for Cambridge, or simply the holding of a day's sport. The chairman was favourable to the forming of a club, and stated that though there was no possibility of getting a tote permit at present, with a live club in existence there was always the hope of getting a permit at some later date. The local trotting club had held two non-tote meetings which had provided excellent sport, end there was no reason why tho same should not he obtained by a racing club. It was resolved:—“That a club bo formed to be known as tho Cambridge Racing Club with the idea of holding an annual race meeting at Cambridge." It was arranged that the first meeting be held some time in September.
