A prominent visiting Queensland oot-ton-grower states that 7000 acres of cotton were harvested during the past season and yielded nearly 4 j millions pounds weight of seed cotton, compared with about a million pounds harvested the prevjpue year. This year it is anticipated tffiit 40,000 acres will be planted. Cotton pickers are paid threelfalfpence to twopence for pound and earn 12s Gd to 15s daily. He expressed (the conviction that teottongroivdng will become, the chief industry of Queensland, if not of all Australia.
