DECORATION AMENDED REGULATIONS AS TO QUALIFYING SERVICE. DETAILS GAZETTED. Tlie regulations for the military forces of tlie Dominion have been amended by tlie substitution of the following provisions in regard to the Colonial Auxiliary Forces Decoration : The Colonial!. Auxiliary Forces Officers’ Decoration is issued in accordance with tho Royal YVarrant on June 9th, 1921, subject to the following conditions:—
(11 The decoration shall consist of a chased oval band of silver, having thereon the words “Colonial Auxiliary' Forces,” and in the centre the Imperial cypher in silver gilt; the whole surmounted by the Imperial crown in silver gilt. (2) Tho decoration shall be worn after all Brinish war medals, suspended from the left breast by .a. green riband of 1J inches in width from a silver brooch. (3) The decoration shall be conferred on (a) duly qualified commissioned officers and chaplains of the New Zealand territorial force; (lb) honorary colonels wlio, before their appointment as such, had performed the requisite qualifying service, and (e) officers who have retired and who, at tlie time of their retirement, bad completed tho requisite service. (4) The period of service requisite to qualify for the decoration shall be twenty years’ commissioned service ren. dered' wholly in the New Zealand volunteer. or territorial forces, or partly in the New Zealand volunteer or territorial forces and. partly in the auxiliary forces (i e., other than permanent forces) ,of one or more Dominion, colony, or protectorate, partly in the territorial force of Great Britain, or partly in any naval or military volunteer force in any part of the Empire (except service since August 4th, 1914, in the volunteer force of Great Britain raised under the Volunteer Acts, 1863-1916). (5) Half the time served in tho ranks of the New Zealand volunteer or territorial forces, in the ranks of the auxiliary military forces of any British Dominion, colony, or protectorate, or in the ranks of the territorial force of Great Britain or volunteer force of Great Britain which existed before April Ist, 1908, shall he reckoned as qualifying service. (6) Servioe on the West Coast of Africa shall reckon twofold as qualifying servioe. (7) An officer of the New Zealand territorial force who was serving on a voluntary agreement on the active list or the reserve of that force on August 4th, 1914, shall be entitled, provided he actually served, or was attested and thereby accepted tfte obligation for service; beyond the boundaries of the Dominion, to count all embodied service as an officer on the active list during the period of the war of 1914-19 twofold as qualifying service towards tho requisite twenty years, whether such service was in the naval forces, military forces, or air forces. (8) An officer of the New Zealand territorial force who was serving on a voluntary agreement on the activo list of the reserve of that force on August 4th v 1914, shall be entitled,. provided he actually served, or was attested and thereby accepted the obligation for service, beyond the boundaries of the Dominion, to count all embodied service in the ranks on the active list during the period of the war of 1914-19 as full qualifying servioe toward the requisite twenty years, whether such service was in the naval forces, military forces, or air forces. (9) Service after seventeen years of ago in a volunteer cadet corps in New Zealand, which existed prior to March 17th, 1911, shall be admitted as qualifying service towards the decoration, commissioned service being reckoned as full time and rank service as halftime.
(10) Nothing in these regulations shall permit of service to count more than twofold towards the decoration. (11) A recipient of the decoration shall he permitted to wear with it any “Colonial Auxiliary Forces Long-Ser. vice Medal” which may have been awarded to him, provided that he has completed the full qualifying service required for both tho medal and the decoration. (12) Applications for the decoration shall bo made on New Zealand Army Form No. 76E, and where officers have served part of the necessary qualifying servioe in the auxiliary forces of the Empire other than those of New Zealand, proof of such service, in the form of certified true copies or certificates or other documents, must accom. pany the application. FORFEITURE. A recipient of tlie Colonial Auxiliary Forces Officers’ Decoration who suffers death by sentence of court-martial, or ib cashiered, or dismissed, or removed for misconduct from tlie naval, military, or air forces, shall forfeit the decoration (unless otherwise decided by the Governor-General). If a recipient of the decoration is convicted by the civil power, or is dealt with under the Offenders’ Probation Act, or is called upon to resign his commission, he shall, on the approval of the Governor-General, forfeit the decoration.
A decoration forfeited by an officer may Tie restored to him by the Gover-nor-General.
