OBITUARY
MR ALFRED HENRY WATERS, The death is announced of Mr Alfred Henry Waters, tho younger son of the late Air Thomas Water**, J.P., a very early citizen of Wellington, and later of Wanganui, who arrived in New Zealand in l&ffi in his own ship, the Chelydra. The late Air A. H. Waters was born in Wellington in the year 1547, and there and in Wanganui he .spent his early boylivod. He was educated at St. Paul's Day School, Wellington, and was one of the few surviving first pupils of the Wanganui Collegiate School, of which the Rev. C. 11. S. NichoLle—a noted scholar of his day—-was master. After leaving school Air/ A. 11. Waters entered the business house of hi*; father, who was a Wanganui merchant of some standing. For the past thirty years Air A. H. Waters, who was of a retiring disposition. but of considerable ability, had resided in Bouleott terrace, Wellington, in-i-erenting himself in many companies doing hut-iness in this Dominion. He was regarded by those who had business relations with him as a man of great integrity and force of character, h!» sound opinion in business matters being highly valued. Among the early settlers the Ju’cnsed was well known. The late Air Waters is survived by his -widow—a wellknown war worker—and by one eisl6r, r.o well as several nieces and nephews.
