SILENT GIBRALTAR GUNS. Tho historic guns of Gibraltar are to bo silenced, and the Rock’s summit signal station is to be closed, down, the “Daily Mail” understands, in tho interests of economy. Since tho famous siege which the British garrison withstood in 1704, despite, a six months’ bombardment by tho combined forces of Franco and Spain, these guns have signalled sunrise and to all on tho Rock, and widespread regret lias been caused by the decision of the authorities. It is estimated that only a few pounds of gunpowder will be saved.
