The’ funeral of number 11484, the late AVilliam Johnston, N.Z.E.F., took place yesterday afternoon at Karori cemetery. At fill© graveside the Wellington citizens were represented by His Worship the Mayor (Air R. A. Wright, M.P) and tlio town clerk. Prior to joining tho New Zealand Expeditionary Force the late soldier was an officer of the Public Works Department, which was represented by the chief acoountant (Air Waldie) and other officers. Captain T. M. Wilkes attended on behalf of the Defence Department and there were also present representatives from tho Chamber of Commerce, the Commercial Travellers’ Association, the Young Men’s Christian Association, the Womon’s National Reserve and the Returned Soldiers’ Association. ‘Tho chief mourners were father and brother. Mr C. Clements represented the Base Records; Airs Neilson represented the W.N. Reserve, and Air Al. Badger the R.S.A.: also two oars containing patients from tho Trentham Hospital. The dadets from Newtown public school formed a guard of honour at tho mortuary chapel ,_and the cadets at the Karori school at the cemetery. They also placed a wreath oil the grave. Several soldiers now receiving treatment at Trentham also attended the funeral. The Rev. Eric Rich conducted the service, the firing party being supplied by tho "Wellington College Cadet Corns, under Sergt.-Alnjor Cork:!!, while Bugler Aldrion sounded the “Last Post.” The late soldier was seriously wounded in September” 1916, and had been under almost continuous treatment up to the time of his death. After theatre, dance or party take "NAZOL." Prevents chill from changing atmospheres. Convenient for pocket or bag. Is 6d for 60 donas.
