Tho president of the ■ ictoria Bowling Club (Councillor C. J. B. Norwood) lasi night paid a tribute to the late Councillor S. n. Underwood, in .whose death, ho aaid, bowling bad sustained a very severe loss. Councillor Underwood, he said-, was a most unselfish bowler, and he and his wife were never so happy a-s when doing something to make other bowlers or visitors comfortable. Ihe members of the club stood for a moment in respect for the deceased ’honorary secretary to the Wellington Bowling Centre. H.M.S. At a meeting of the executive of the Manawatu - Oroua Electric Power Board, held at Palmerston North, it wae decided that as two power boards had withdrawn from the proposal to raise a joint loan, the local board should make its own arrangements, and formal application has been made to the Minister for Finance for the authorisation of the board’s loan, which totals £300,000. The necessary steps will now bo taken to place the proposal before a poll of the ratepayers in tho various portions of the board’s district.
