BILLIARDS

H. W. STEVENSON’S VISIT. * 'A SON AiND HEIR BORN. Mr F. W. Vosseler, of Billiards, Ltd., has just received a letter from H. W. Stevenson, the ex-world’s champion, who is at present in Sydney. His illness has considerably interfered with his tour, and about a uonth ago his wife presented him with a son. Mr and Mrs Stevenson have two daughters, so they will now be a happy family. He and Fred. Lindrum meet at Melibourne on July 10th. That match will carry them nearly through the month, and he expects to. sail from Sydney for Wellington about August 3rd. As soon as the date of sailing is fixed Mr Voseeler will proceed to make definite arrangements for Stevenson’s tour of the Dominion. After playing in Wellington he will probably cross Jb Nelson, and thence to Christchurch, MRmaru, Oamaru, Dunedin and Invercargill. He will return to Wellington and work up to Auckland, going on to Sydney from there. He wants to give "Johnny Owen” the chance of dropping the spade and taking up the cue. By the way, in his matoh with Fred. Lindrum, junr., both agreed that the game ibe restricted to the three-ball, all round billiards, each player being limited to the playing of not more than ten consecutive red or white losing hazards. McCONACHY DEFEATED. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. LONDON. June 25. The billiards match resulted: —Peall, 14,000; McConachy, 11,789.
