CRICKET ASSOCIATION
MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEET, LAST NIGHT'S BUSINESS. A meeting of the management committee of the Wellington Cricket Association, over which the chairman (Mr C. G. Wilson) presided, was held last even\ ing, when there were also present Messrs \V. G. Hughes. P. L. Salmon, P. B. Broad, H. E). Burton, H. J. Buck, P. R. Fulton, W. A. Baker, J. Reid and F. Hewitt (hon. secretary). AMATEUR ATHLETICS. The Wellington Centro of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association n;rote intimating that the Caledonian Society had been granted a permit for Boxing Day and the following day, and asking if Basin Reserve would’ be available for those dates. The matter was referred to the incoming committee. McLAREN'S ENGLISH TEAM. A circular letter, received from the New Zealand Cricket Council regarding the forthcoming visit of McLaren's English team, advised that the council proposed to shoulder the entire financial responsibility of the tour and to ailoft’ the associations controlling the matches not less than 10 per cent, of tho net profit, to be allocated at the conclusion of the tour. It was decided to await a reply io the association's previous request for particulars of the financial arrangements made with Mr McLaren before considering the matter. TWO WICKETS ON BASIN RESERVE. The question of procuring two wickets on the Basin Reserve, as against the existing one, for cup matches next season, was referred to tho grounds committee, who are to report to a subsequent meeting. A GRACEFUL ACT. In view of the unfavourable weather which prevailed and the adverse financial result of tho Wellington v. Australia "Soccer” match; it was decided to waive tho charge for tho association’s I‘onnn used at the Bn.sin .Reserve by tho Wellington Football Association. AMENDED RULES. A committee, comprising of Messrs Reid, Salmon and Board, appointed to draft amended rules, submitted a lengthy report to the meeting. On the motion of Mr Salmon it was derided to convene a special meeting for next Monday, when the recommendations suggested will be fa by considered.
