N.Z. ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE. additional remits. At the concluding suasion of the Public Service Association's Conferencci held last week, the following additional remits were passed i—"As less than one-third of the police officers are represented by the association, it ia resolved that no good purpose can be gained by proceeding with police matters, except remits Si and 32.” These read : "(3l) —Police officers charged with offences have the right of inquiry similar to that provided for officers of the General Public Service, under section 52 of the Public Service Act; also, that they have the right to be represented by counsel at any inquiry. (32)—That police officers have a right of appeal to an independent board, with a stipendiary magistrate as chairman, against any decision of the Minister of Police or the Commissioner of Police affecting status or salary of a police officer.” “That all members of the Police Force wishing to remain members of the P.S. Association be retained as euch.but that subscriptions be not collected from them for the time being. The machinery of the association, through section com. mittecs and section secretaries for com. munieations between the police centres for the purpose of assisting them to re* organise either as a separate Police Association or as part of this association, be open to them." "That the executive committee be instructed that when at any time during the year 350 members of the Police Force signify their intention of becoming financial members of the association, the executive committee proceed with police matters.” OFFICERS ELECTED. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year-.—President, Mr R. Sinol (Native Trust Department); vicepresidents, Mr C. M. Hill (Public Works Department), Mr J. Jackson (Labour Department); executive committee, Messrs C Hill, J. Jackson, A. Bsrgess. G. Ward, A. J. Phillips, D, J. Guiney, 11. S. Baldwin, S. H. Morrison, W. H. Phillips, G. H. Tanner, F. Mackenzie, F. W. Browne, L. Ink6ter. PROPOSED SECOND "CUT." MONSTER PROTEST MEETING. Civil Servants are reminded of the monster protest meeting at the Town Hall to-night, Messrs Mack (A.S.R.S.), Combo (P. and T. Association), Millar (Public Service Association), and Robert, son (R.0.1.i will speak on the proposed second salary cut.
