MEETING OF COUNTY COUNCIL^ By Telegraph.—Special to "N.Z. Times." MASTERTON, June 25. The Wairarapa South County Council held its monthly meeting at Carterton on Saturday. Councillor T. V. Moore presided. The treasurer’s statement showed a debit balance of JU662. Antecedent liability was set down as 455668. and the receipts for the month £1063. The Taerie County Council wrote asking support for a resolution expressing dissatisfaction with the incidence of taxation in regard to the maintenance of the hospitals of the Dominion, the present system of a levy over the hospital district on rateable value brinp considered inequitable.—lt was decided to receive the letter. It was decided to support a resolution from the Waimea County Council to the effect that in justice to the ratepayers and the tyre payers of the Dominion a tyre tax should be equitably allocated among all counties and road boards where the Counties Act is not in force, and made available during the current year for the maintenance, repair and control of ail main roads used for motor traffic. A petition was received from H. Brader. Waingawa. signed by every person except one residing within a radius of a mile, offering no objection to an application to boil down fat in the locality. —lt decided to inform Mr Brader that nothing further had yet been heard from the Health Department in respect of his application. It was decided to write to the Fnbilc Works Department in regard to We*tmere road, pointing out that while the Masterton County was being allowed jBI for Ul the Wairarapa County was only receiving £1 for 412. and that the ratg had to be found by the soldier settlers THAT BOY AGAIN!
