MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. (Special to “N.Z. Times.”) OTAKI,‘June 23. At the meeting of the Horowhenua County Council the engineer reported that the Main Road bridge, over the "Vyaitobu stream in the Otaki riding, wse in a dangerous state for heavy traffic, and notices had been posted on it to this effect. He was awaiting quotations for timber for this bridge and a bridge on tho Bench road, Te Horo. When the quotations came-forward timber will be ordered and the work put in hand. A large amount of heavy motor traffic stall continued to pass through the county, but particulars had been obtained in connection with a number of alleged offenders, and prosecutions v»7l follow next court day. Councillor Whyte drew to the culvert at Hume’s. Something should be done there. There was some question about the boundary at tho cut in tho Tokomarn river just above the bridge. The boundary between the two property owners was the centre of the river, but the river had shifted a good deal, and disputes were arising.—Tho chairman said lie did not see how the council could interfere.
