FATAL ACCIDENT
BANK CIVES WAY YOUNG MAN STRUCK BY WHEEL. BARROW. SAD CIRCUMSTANCES. A painful accident with fatal con. sequences occurred at Mornington on Saturday morning, when a young man named Philip Henry Turnbull, an employee in the Central Post Office, was killed whilst working on a section in Balfour road. Turnbhll, who resides with his parents in Main road', Mornington, was engaged in excavating a section where he intended to erect a residence, and was being assisted by Mr William Arthur Thomas, with whom were his two children. The deceased was working just underneath a bank, removing 6oil in a wheelbarrow, when Mr Thomas saw the bank falling. The latter called “Look out!” to Turnbull, but the bank gave way, the earth striking the Wheelbarrow which Turnbull was filling. The impact drove the barrow upwards, and’ it struck Turnbull’s head, fracturing the skull. The two children were also pinned beneath the earth, but were extricated little the worse for their adventure. Turnbull had expired just before the arrival of Dr. Line. Deceased: was only 23 years of age, and a coronial inquiry will be held.
