WEATHER PROSPECTS.
(Bv the Government Meteorologist.) Present indications (4 p.m. yesterday) are for strong and squally north-east winds, backing to westerlies in the northernmost districts, and south-east te south-west winds elsewhere. Cold and unsettled weather may be expeoted, with rain probable generally, and snow on higher levels in the south. Barometer unsteady, but rising everywhere shortly.
