THE MANUREWA
MINE-SWEEPER TO SEARCH. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright MELBOURNE, June 1. The Navy is sending the minesweeper Geranium to search for the Manurewa. Her special mission will be to search outside the reefs north of Lord Howe Island. (Received June 1, 7.35 p.m.) SYDNEY, June 1. The Geranium sailed this morning on a five-days’ search for the Manurewa. The cruiser Sydney is sailing for Noumea on Saturday, and has also been ordered to keep a sharp Jook-out. EVIDENCE AT INQUIRY. (Received June 1, 10.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, June 1. Giving evidence at tho Manurewa inquiry, Clarence Crowley, who was residing at Port Macquarie on April 12th, said he saw a barque apparently being very much buffeted by adverse winds. At ono time sho was stern on to tho coast, and at another seemed to bo going backward.
