The funeral took place at the Karori cemetery yesterday afternoon of Mr Francis A-rney Kemple, who wee tor many years a member of the “New Zealand Times" mechanical 6taff. Both the Requiem Maas, which was celebrated ei the Basilica, by the Rev. Father Maloney, S.M., and the funeral were largely attended by the deceased gentleman's friend* and relatives, thus testifying to the late Mr Kemple’s universal popularity The chief mourner* were Messrs Mcßrearty and Oondliffe (relatives) and Mr W. Blick (printer, *'New Zealand Times"), and the pall-bearer* were Messrs J* Devine, L. R. Prince, E. Lane. R. Smith, and J. Chemis (members of the “Times’* staff). Those present included the Hon. W. J. Geddis, M.L.C. (managing-editor of the ■•Times"), Mr G- H. Dixon ibusine®* manager of the “Times"), Mr Jamfe* Kerr (“Petone Chronicle"). Mr R. Stickney. president of the Wellington Typographical Union, and many other veilknown members of the printing craft. There were also in attendance a large number of West Coasters, including Dr Charles Morice, Me*»r* Frank and James McParlane. Cunliffe. Butler, O’Gormau. and Phillips (2). The service at the graveside was conducted by the Rev. Father Maloney, S.M.. and the many beautiful flora! tribute* were a testimony of the high esteem in which the 4* ceased was held.
