NEW INSTRUCTIONS. The following items are recorded in the “Gazette” just issued: — BADGES FOR SENIOR CADETS. As the undermentioned badges have little value to secondary school cadets, owing to the fact that training in their units is regarded more or less as part of the school curriculum, and is carried out almost wholly during schools hours, it lias been decided that cadets of secondary school units shall not be eligible for tho following badges, viz.:—Good attendance, good conduct, efficiency. IJXEATPTION FOR SCOUTMASTERS. Scoutmasters and assistant-scoutmasters of the Bov Scouts' Association may be exempted from military training provided a certificate is furnished by the Chief Commissioner to the effect that such trainee is rendering efficient service as a scoutmaster or assistant-scout-master.
This certificate is to be submitted io tho staff officer in charge of liis regimental district bv the trainee claiming exemption from military training in accordance with the above. Total exemption will be only on tho condition that trainees do tlireo years' service as scoutmasters or assist-ant-scoutmasters; should they not complete three years' efficient service as such tlicv may be required t-o carry out the whole of their military training in such a manner as may be ordered.
