Tile business of tlie committee is to prepare a report on all aspects of taxation in the Dominion. The chairman is Mr W. D. Hunt, who ri one of the members representing Chambers of Comm-ree. Ropre-'enting Shrepowners’ and Turners Federation Mr Bernaro Tripp. runholder. Timarn; Mr AV. Barton, farmer. Featliorston. Mr T. S. Weston, barrister, Wellington : Sir E. W. Hunt, accountant, Wellington. Representing Industrial AssociationsMr C. J. Ward, Wellington. Tlio sittings of the committee are net to bo own to tlie Press, but three members have been appointed to communicate to newspaper representatives flimh information ns it is thought ad-vi-able to.have published. The committee is accepting evidence in the form of written statements from those who wish to send such statements to it. If a -witness desires to appear hefore the committee, a request for a hearing in person should accompanv that person’s written evidence. The committee, on receipt of the reouest. will decided whether it should be acceded to. It is understood that none of the requests so far made for a personal hearing have been refused. . There was no announcement of importance to bo made about yesterday s proceedings. Quite a number of appointments have been made for the hearing of witnesses during the next few days.
