Millions of acres of ootton lands in the Mississippi Valley are inundated, following a fall of 81 inches of rain in two davs. LOSS OF LIFE IN TEXAS. (Received April 27, 8.10 p.m.) NEW YORK, April 26. The loss of life as the result of the Texas flood now totals 57. Damage to property is estimated at 1,000,000 dollars. The city engineer is conyinoed that the flood is not only the result of heavy rains, but certain levels have probably been dynamited for some reason not known.
