Through tile generosity of nine pub-lic-spirited citizens of Christchurch, Cracroft Hill, which is situated at tho terminus or the Cashmere Hills tramline, has heen secured as a scenic reserve for tho pleasure and enjoyment of tire people of Canterbury. These citizens have paid between them the cash required for the deposit on the land, one making a donation of £IOO, another a donation of £SO, and several from £25 downwards. Tho intention is to hold the block in trust for the period of one year, and each' purchaser has signed an undertaking that ho will, on the balance of the purchase price being forthcoming, sign a transfer of the land to His Majesty tho King for the purpose of a scenio reserve.
