LOCAL BODY LOANS
HIGHER .INTEREST RATES. Orders-in-Council gazetted yesterday prescribe the following increased rates of interest in respect of local body loans: —New Plymouth Borough Council, £2OOO. for municipal works, 6£ per cent.; Waimairi County Council, £SOOO for cbanejling and asphalting in Papanui district, 6J per cent, for a term of ten years; Christchurch Tramway Board, £20,000 for development and improvement of tramway system, pei' cent.
