SCULLING CHAMPIONSHIP

FOR WORLD HONOURS. ARNST TO ROW PApDON. “Dick” Amst, former world’s sculling champion, returned from a visit to Sydney yesterday afternoon by tho Ulim-aroa. Last night he communicated with J. Paddon, who had arrived in Wellington from Wanganui, and a meet-' ing was arranged. The noted oarsmen subsequently met, and an agreement was entered into to row for the world’s championship on one of the northern Australian rivers—either the Clarence or the Richmond—in three 1 months’ time. The stake agreed upon was £SOO aside, which is a similar amount to that deposited l and rowed for when Paddon, fhe present champion, defeated: Hadfield reoently on the Wanganui river.

An interesting -interview with the champion, J. Paddon, appears on our sporting page.
