ST. LEGER TO ROYAL BOX. PEB PRESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, April 17. The concluding day of the Auckland Racing Club’s autumn meeting was held in dull weather. The course was dead as a result of the recent rain. There was a large attendance and good racing. The totalisator handled £87,883 10$, compared with £112,767 on the corresponding day last yeur. Also started—Paddington Green 10.10. Sea De’il' 10.9, Shell-shock 10.7, Rathlin 9.10, Lady Lyddite 9, Ma Copper 9, Mary Bruce 9, Te Rohae 9, Myall King 9, Grand Canyon 9. Romance was the early pilot, followed by Rathlin and Te Rohae, with the others bunched. Te Roliao fell at the hurdle going out of the straight. Romance led to the hill, where Myall King went to the front, fallowed by Romance, Grand Canyon, and Rathlin. Paddington Green stopped at tho second fence on the hill. Romance led over the double, attended by Sea D’eil and Grand Canyon. The last-mention-ed fell at the old water jumip. Thiganthu ran to the front going up the hiil and was never headed) winning by 12 lengths from Old Gold, who put in goo dwork over the last half-mile. Below the distance Income ran past Tinohoro, the latter falling away beaten. The field was bundled. Also started Level. Spirit Level led past the 6tand, but Kick Off 1 headed him going out of ,the straight, Thespian being second under a strong pull, and Royal Box last. At the seveu-furlong post Thespian ran up to Kick Off, and at the six furlongs was leading by a length. Approaching tlie half-mile post Kick Off ran up to Thespian, hut the latter held; a slight advantage entering the straight, and Royal Box was handy. Below the distance Kick Off was under punishment and Thespian looked like winning?' Royal Box, putting in a strong finishing run, got up to win by a long head, Kick Off beidng a length behind Thespian. Time, 3min 15 2-ssec. HUIA HANDICAP, Of 1000 sovs; six furlongs. Dovelet, 6.11 (Fanning) 1 Prince Abbey, 8.3 2 Pavo, 9 3 Also started —Rational 9.2, Surveyor 9.2, Anomaly 3.12, Golden Bubble B.H, Absurdum 8.6, Landslide 8.4. Dovelet led throughout and won by two lengths, with Pavo three-quarters of a length behind Prince Abbey, and Landslide fourth. Time, lmin 16sec.
