LADIES’ FOOTBALL

THE AOTEA CLUB. S ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Aotea Ladies’ Association Football Club was held this week at 16, Alien street. Mr C. 11. Bird, president of the club, presided over (lie meeting, which was well attended. The annual report, which was presented by the secretary, Miss L. Campbel, stated that the club had had a prosperous season. The two teams made their debut to tho public at Anderson Park last May. At that time they consisted of seven players a-side, tut at the close of 'tile season the membership had considerably increased. During the season a team was sent to Christchurch, and weire unfortunate, being defeated by one goal to nil. Nevertheless the member's were not discouraged by the result. They, enjoyed themselves during their stay in the south. On Labour Day the A and B teams tried conclusions for the Nellie Shield, at Newtown Park. After a hotly-contested game the B team succeeded in staving off their opponents and won by one goal to nil. Credit for the success of the team is due to Miss M. Clark, who managed to toe the leather between the posts. These two teams travelled to' Napier during the New Year holidays, and gave an exhibition match. This was at the invitation of the Mardi Gras committee. The match resulted in the foundation of clubs in Napier. The balance-sheet showed the club to be in a good financial position.—The report and balanoo cheet were adopted. The chairman in his remarks paid a high tribute to the excellent work performed by the club’s secretary. Miss L. Campbell. “We owe a great deal of the success of the clulh to our secretary,” remarked the chairman, “and I am sure all the members present at this meeting will agree with me that the club would sustain a heavy loss without her assistance.” A vote of thanks was unanimously passed for her valuablo services.

The outgoing committee was thanked for its activities during the past period of holding office. The eleotion of officers for the ensuing season resuted as follows:—President Mr C. H. Bird; vioe-presidents, Messrs G. Landymore and H. B. Yeoman; hon. secretary, Miss L. Campbell (re-elect-ed); assistant-secretary, Miss E. Niokless; management committee, Misses M. Clark, L. Landymore, L. Wilson, and team oaptains (to be eleoted); club captain, Miss L. Wilson ; social committee, Misses L. Wilson, F. Andrews, M. Clark, G. and L. Landymore, J. McRae, E. Niokles® and M, Rowell; Hub coach, H. B. Yeoman. It was del cided that the* club bold, a dance this month, the date to be advertised.
