The Commonwealth Treasurer, ,Mr Bruce, .referring to the criticism of the wireless agreement, explained that the Commonwealth is not committed to any expenditure in the erection of a direct communication station in Australia. The Board of Directors will enter into . a contract for the work, for which any wireless company may apply. The Government has power to prevent the company erecting in Australia stations which are likely to compete with the telegraph lines.

Air W. M. Hughes recently signed an agreement with Amlagamated Wireless, Ltd., for a direct wireless service between the Commonwealth and: the United Kingdom.
