MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. At tho monthly meeting of the management committee of the Boys’ Institute and S. A.' Rhodes Home for Boys, Mr G. A. Troup occupied the chair, and there were present: —Mesdames W. S. Moorhouse, and J. JlcKerrow, Messrs C, S. Moore, J. M. Morice, B.Sc., 11. Leah, W. A. Parton, Dr. J, S. McLaurin, G. E. Brown, P. W. Banks, D. S. E. Blake, and the director (Mr J. W. Butler). The director’s report stated that the attendance had been large during the month. In order to assist schools boys and others who were compelled to take their lunch to school or iwork, a hot cup of tea or cocoa was provided in the institute social hall, at a cost of Id, and it was greatly appreciated, by the boys and their parents. This is a real help to boys whose parents are at work and who fire not able to provide a hot midday meal. Tho home for boys was full and applications were being received from all parts of tho Dominion. The attendances at the tepid baths during the month was a record, and 36 children havo secured certificates for proficiency in swimming. It was resolved to hold a swimming carnival in aid of the Russian Famine Relief Fund, and arrangements for same were left in the hands of the bath committee. It was decided to set up a special educational and entertainment committee. An - offer by Mr Len McKenzie fo supply medicine free ,of charge to poorer boys who were recommended by tho director was accepted with, thanks, and Mr McKenzie 'was elected honorary chemist to the home.
