YOUNG WOMAN’S DEATH
ADJOURNED INQUEST ON MISS SEMES. OPEN VERDICT RETURNED. The adjourned inquest concerning the death af the young woman, Eva Simes, who died at the Wellington Hospital on Friday morning, was continued: .by the district coroner, Mr W. G. Riddell, S.M., in the courthouse yesterday morning. Detective-Sergeant Andrews appeared for the police. • Walter Edwin Simes, the brother of the deceased, who was brought from Christohuroh to give evidence, said he carried on business as an auctioneer in that city. His sister had not been in any financial difficulty, but of late fafad suffered l a nervous breakdown. Some three months ago she had left Christchurch for Wanganui, and the family had not heal’d from her since. Evidence was tendered by Dr. H. A. H. Gilmer that ho had attended the_ young woman, and 1 , on several oocasoionis he had advised her to .go into the hospital, but deceased refused on each occasion. On March 23rd, however, he ordered Her to the hospital. Witness had questioned the deceased regarding her condition, but could not ascertain anything about her. A finding was. returned that death had been due to general peritonitis following septic premature labour.
