BOGUS DETECTIVES

ALLEGED THEFT FROM CHINESE. FEB PRESS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH, March 27. As the result of a disturbance in a Ohineßo restaurant yesterday two Europeans were arrested. The allegations of the occupants were that the men - had entered the premises stating that the Chinese were gambling, and that one of the Chinamen was relieved of a small sum of money. The men, Leonard Wilkinson and Thomas Ferguson, appeared- before the court this morning bn a charge of stealing the sum of 5s 6d and several Chinese coins. Wilkinson was also charged with having assumed the designation of detective. Tho case was adjourned, hail being allowed.
