An extraordinary demonstration took place at Norwich at tho funeral of Alls George, and her son and daughter. Thousands gathered l to witness the funeral, though the time and place were kept secret. When the husband, who was pallid and trembling, left the mourning coach, he was met by a storm of hissing, booing and oppro* brious epithets. AVhen he left the cemetery tho crowd, which was largely composed of women, continued hooting vigorously. The above message refers to n most extraordinary affair, tlie cabled version of which is as follows:—A most dramatic case has arisen at Norwich. A widespread newspaper insurance scheme was initiated ns a New Year advertising dodge. The insurances included sickness, fire, street, railway, and motoring accidents, the papers competing in their generosity and promptitude of payment. A fie recently broke out in the house of Frederick/ George, greengrocer, in which his wife, son, and daughter were burned to death, but George escaped. Tlie jury at the inquest added, a rider that George should nave made a greater attempt to save, his family. The coroner has since' again referred to the case as follows: —• “George insured his wife and family in the newspaper scheme for £250, which was promptly paid. He must have immediately written to tlie newspaper. If I had known this at the time of the inquest the verdict' might have been different. Under, the circumstances, it looks like a serious case against George. I have communicated with tho police.”
