RONA BAY WHARF
JED BE EXTENDED. At lad# night’s meeting of the Eastbourne Borough Council, a letter «iis received from the Wellington Harbour Board acknowledging a letter from the council relative to the Uona Bay wharf extension. Tile letter stated that their oemmittee had given full consideration to the matter, v and advised that the hoard was prepared to carry out the work, anr further, that the board could ndt depart from the decisions previously communicated. The ncting-Mayor, Mr W. H. Short, said it seemed that the Harbour Board were determined to adhere to thfevr decision. One fact,_ however, must bo remembered, that if the wharf was fo be constructed, or commenced and not completed before next summer, it would handicap them a good deal. To test the feeling of tho council, ho would move that the terms of the Harbour Board be accented, and thfi bodv be notified to proceed with the work as soon as possible. He felt that the Mayor, Mr Mather (now on holiday) had done his level host in the interests of tile council. After further discussion, It was explained that, the matter would probably be bettor diseposed of if referred to the Ferry Board, and a resolution was passed in that form-
