MASTER CARRIERS
ANN DAL MEETING. The report submitted ’at the annual meeting held recently, stated that the Master Carriers’ Association has been instrumental in effecting many improvements in the interests of the made, importers, and the public generally. One achievement that will appeal to the importing community was the association’® suggestion (which was acted upon by the Harbour Board) that all Customs “stops” should be centralised in P shed, instead of being located in about half a dozen aheds as formerly. The saving to the Hurbcur Board, carriers, customhouse agents and :roporters has been considerable. On flic association’s suggestion, tram stops .:i the city have been improved, a muchneeded water trough installed at the corner of Salamanca road and ICelburn parade, and a telephone installed in the Laqibton shed for tlie use of tbo Harbour Board’s customers. ,In view of the Arbitration Court’s promised pronouncement in April next, and consequent probable reduction in the cost of living bonus, association has alr«jtdy ladopted a scheme whereby the general public will benefit by any reduction made.
