FAT CATCHES FIRE* FEB PRESS ASSOCIATION. WAIMATE, March I#. A fire occurred at Redcliff this morning at 8.30 o’clock, when a sevenroomed house, owned and occupied bj Mr Robert Geddcs, was totally destroyed. Mrs Geddcs, with her two children. were alone in the house at tho time. Mrs Geddes war, rendering down fat in tlie oven, when the fat caught fire. She tried to drag it outside. but had to desist. Tho flames quickly obtained a hold, and there were no moans of combating the fire. Mr Geddes and the farm-hands were away, and the house, furniture, and outbuildings wore totally destroyed. The insurance details were unavail able.
