COMING FOOTBALL SEASON

BERHAMPORE CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING LAST EVENING. The third annual meeting of the Berhampore Football Club was held last evening in the Masonic Hall, Berhampore. Mr A. A. AVhitelaw presided, and 104 members were present. New' members elected totalled 45. ANNUAL REPORT. The annual report stated that the membership was the highest on record, there being 101 members, 107 honorary members, and 43 officials, a total of 251. Teams had been entered from the following , grades:—Senior, junior, third, fourth, and fifth. They experienced a very successful season on the playing field, and had every reason to be proud of the high positions occupied by the teams at the end of the season. The senior team showed vast improved form on the previous season's play, and were in the fighting for the championship right up till half-way through the second round, when misfortune and bad luck overtook them. Saturday after Saturday saw a player disabled, and nearing the end of the season there were eight of the team standing down through injuries. With a greatly disorganised team they only suffered narrow defeats, and finished the season occupying fourth position out of nine teams competing. This was a highly creditable perfotmance for oui second year in the senior grade. Fourteen matches had been played., seven woti and seven lost. The team had scored 125 points, and I<ss points had been recorded against it. With fourteen championship points they had finished fourth. The junior team won 6 gj a t c^ies » lost 4, and drew 3, ending fifth on the, list. Fourth grade held the best record with 12 matches won and one lost, ending a» runners-up for the championship. Fourth giade had won 10, lost two, and drawn one. and been third on the list. Fifth grade had won eight and lost three, finishing third A team had journeyed to Woodville at Easter, and suffered defeat by 13 points to 6. In representative teams the club had been well up. Three / players had been included in senior A teams, three in senior B; three \ in junior, and six in third grade. ’ The balance-sheet Tevealed a credit balance of <£76 2s 3d.

A SATISFACTORY POSITION. The annual report and balance-sheet were adopted. In moving this the chairman congratulated the club on its very satisfactory position. He paid a tribute to the wojk of the officials. It wag unanimously decided that Mr. C. Russell, hon. secretary of* the club since its inception, should receive an honorarium of *6lO 10s. It was decided to allow the subscription to remain as last season—senior 12s 6d, junior 10s, third class 7s 6d, fourth sa, fifth 2s 6*l.
