CLAY PIGEON CONTEST
HUTT VALLEY GUN CLU^ GOOD SHOOTING TOR .£IOO PRIZE. Bright sunshine .and a light variable breeze characterised the annual meeting of the Hutt Valley Gun dub. when the •£IOO clay pigeon open handicap was contested at the Waiwetu racecourse in the Hutt Part yesterday afternoon.' It is the second meeting of the club since the cessation of hostilities, but the entries were a little disappointing. There were no South Island representatives present, but many came from the extreme boundaries of* the North Island. Mr Duncan Fraser, ex-New Zealand champion, who has recently done good shooting in Australia. ‘ was competing, and secured the "possible’’ in the second nomination. In the first nomination M. Edwards (Hutt), ‘ secured the possible, but dropped out -of the running for the big event by securing, two "mwses" in, the second nomination. Others with’ one miss were Fraser (Te Kuiti), Cave (Hutt), and O'Connell (Petone). There were three possibles, in the second nomination, and excitement ran high towards the close' of - the contest. , The possibles were Fraser. (Te Kuiti), Dennison (Hutt), and O’Connell (Petone).
