IMPRESSIVE CEREMONY

DOUBLE! CONSECRATION AT ST. PAUL’S. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. LONDON, November 1. There was a double consecration at St. Paul’s Cathedral, when Dr. Harrison Lees was consecrated Archbishop of Melbourne and Dr. Wilson Bishop of Bath and Wells, in succession to Bishop Kennion. It was an imposing and picturesque ceremonial, and there was a large assemblage. After tbe procession, in which numerous high dignitaries participated, Prebendary Tit eon -preached, and made laudatory references to Archbishop Lees. He remarked that Dr. Lees was following great men in Melbourne, hut Victoria could await him with hope and confidence. He was blest with a deep love for all kinds and conditions of men, and had the ability to interpret Christ’s teaching. Although the double consecration occupied two hours and a half the crowd maintained the in tensest Interest in the ceremonial. The Archbishop Of Canterbury officiated at the consecration. After the blessing, the nrocesskm returned, with Archbishop Lees on the right hand of the Archbishop of Canterbury and Bishop Wilson on the left side. The participating dignitaries included the Bishops of London, Gloucester, Worcester, Chelmsford, St. David’6. and Taunton.
