BOYS’ INSTITUTE

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS, At the monthly meeting of the management committee of the Boys’ Institute and S. A. Rhodes Home for Beys, then were present—Mr G. A. Troup in Ibe chair, Mesdames W. S. Moorhouse and J. S- McKerrow, Messrs W. A. Parton, Dr McLaurin, G. E. Brown, J. M. Morice, C. S. Moore, J. S. Murray, and the director, Mr J. W. Butler. Correspondence was received from the Boys' Federation of America a»bnf for information of the work of the institute, and it was resolved to forward literature. The director’s report stated that the attendance was increasing, and it was difficut to find the necessary accommodation for all the classes. Hie tepid bath was growing in popularity with tbe public, the number of admissions for * the ten months of this year reaching 12.415. The institute orchestra consists of 23 players, and the brass band 26. A record number of cricket teams have been entered for the championships, over 180 boys taking part every Saturday. The City Council resolved to increase the ground fees to senior teams only, and appreciation of the decision was expressed hy the members. A motion of thanks to Hr H. Laah for the improved system of filtering of the bath water was carried, and it was resolved to make a reduction to schoolboy* for admission, to tho tepid baths.
