MAGISTRATE’S COURT

YESTERDAY'S SESSIONS. Mr, W. G. Riddell. S.M., dealt with police offences at the Wellington Magistrate's Court yesterday. Nine first offending inebriates were dealt with in the usual lenient manner. Stephen Quinn, who had a previous conviction for drunkenness against him. was fined 10s, in default twenty-four hours gaol. SITTING It LOWER HUTT. Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M., presided over a edittang at _ Lower Hutt and dealt with the following cases:— Donald McArthur, charged with driving a motor cycle in a dangerous manner on August 6th, was fined £5 and costs. Bernard C. O’Donnell and Alfred John Spoon, were alleged to have committed a broach of the motor by-laws, but tbe informations were dismissed. ’ For driving without a light, Arthur Hamilton was fined 10s and costs. DEFENDED CASES. In a defended Case, Messrs Lowe 8r05.,, motor engineers, proceeded against L. Carmichael for the sum of £l2 13s for repairs dons to a motor-car. Judgment was given for the plaintiffs for the sum of £8 5s with costs. Mr O. C. Mazengarb appeared for the plaintiffs and Mr E. F. Bunny for the defendant. In a claim for £46 for rant of cottage and also for the use of certain materials in a blacksmith's shop, William Gwilliam (Mr E. P. Bunny) took action against G. Stokes (Mr O'. C. Mazengeurb), and after hearing evidence His Worship gave judgment for the plaintiff for the sum of £4O and costs. BY DEFAULT. Judgment was given for the plaintiff by default in each of the following undefended cavil cases:— J. C. Scott v. Mrs Bramwell, 10s and costs; same v. Archibald Foley. £5 15s 6d and costs; same v. W. A. Sammons, £1 15s and costs; Lowe Bros. v. James Loo tier, £5 and costs: Frank Mulders v. Stan. Brice, £2 10s and costs. TENEMENT CASES. In a claim for possession of a house and also the .sum of £l2 10s as rent, N. Wickham was ■ ordered to give up pos. session to Bertha Snodgrass by January 2nd and to pay the amount of rent claimed. V. McClinohy was ordered to pay Frederick Donaldson the sum of £3 6s or go to gaol for four days in a judg. menfc summons case.
