SPORT AT EASTBOURNE
IMPROVEMENTS TO GROUND. A deputation from various sports bodiefi in the East Harbour District waited ugj on the Eastbourne Borough Council W request that body to put Recreation Ground in proper order, so that oncm football, and athletic events could be conducted there. The deputation consisted of Messrs P, Levi, L. Stephenson, Thompson, and Parry. My Levi acted as spokesman. He explained the needs of the district in connection with several games played at Eastbourne. The several sports clubs had set out to collect JBIOO for a ground improvement fund, which it was hoped the council would supplement. The Mayor (Mr I*. H. Mather) stated that the council warn anxious that the ground should, be pat in order, but it was all a question of finanoe. He explained what the council intended to do, and added that with the financial assistance promised by the deputation there was. little need to delay longer in regard to the matterfi. and he thought the council would proceed forthwith with the work. After the deputation had withdrawn, the Mayor and Councillor Green were appointed to coiv fer with the sports bodies.
